Focus Friday: The Bookstore.

We are quite persuaded that the very best way for you to be spending your leisure time, is to be either reading or praying. You may get much instruction from books which afterwards you may use as a true weapon in your Lord and Master’s service. Paul cries, “Bring the books” — join in the cry. -Charles Spurgeon

This week we're featuring the church's bookstore and have asked Steve to introduce himself and give you a picture of what he does.

Hi, I'm Steve, I manage the church bookstore, which is not a difficult task with the dependable team that helps with its operation. Essentially all I do is create a Sunday morning schedule for a three month period and help with making sure it is open when the Sunday morning service ends. We have a dedicated group who enjoys serving in the bookstore and who all share the joys of reading.

Julie Spencer has been serving faithfully on every first Sunday of the month  and will be taking a break after May as she and Matt will be having their first child, so there will be an opening for anyone who would like to join us. Also, on any Sunday you may see Lucy Hannula, Ashley Boomsma, Taylor Boomsma, Aaron Lee, or Trevor Sylvester serving. I have served in the bookstore for about four years now, and it would not run so smoothly without the help of those already mentioned and without the help of those in the Church office who do their part in keeping the inventory stocked.

All who serve in the bookstore enjoy reading and find pleasure in discussing and recommending good books. God has gifted his people with great authors who have proven to be a means of grace to us all. So stop into the bookstore after church some Sunday and peruse the bookshelf and take advantage of this great resource.

Someone once said, that except for the books you read and the people you meet, you will be the same person five years from now that you are today. Buy a book and meet an author and see where you are five years from now!
