After a Sunday message on the biblical case for deacons and a family meeting to explain the process of electing deacons, our church entered a 30-day process of nominating people the congregation felt were qualified to serve as deacons. Each of these candidates received a notice by email to let them know they were nominated and were asked to accept or decline.
Ron and Lynn are now in the interviewing stage and will meet with each nominee to discuss qualifications, job description, availability and term of service.
After the interviews are completed, Ron and Lynn will decide from the list of qualified candidates who will serve on the deacon board and will choose between 5 and 7 people.
This initial board will be involved in setting up policy and procedures. The terms of service will be both 2 and 3 years.
We want to thank everyone for joining in the process - for nominating, for considering serving and for praying for the elders as they prayerfully choose our deacon board.
