Sunday's Poem
This past Sunday, one of our members shared a poem she wrote which was inspired by 2 Corinthians 12:9.
the most necessary part
i wear weakness dripping
from my fingertips—
like this failure
that I can’t quite shake
aching
at my own inadequacies
screaming at the parts of me
that don’t quite fit
into place, as if
You fill resentfully
the gaps in me
i should have fixed
but what if this
weakness is not lack
but the space in which
You act, shaping
more out of less-than
as You shaped
life out of death,
and what if
in trying to be less
of a liability i erase
the very place in me
in which
You shape new creation
grace taking shape in
the negative space
as if this weakness is
the most necessary
part of me.
