What is G4L?
G4L is our youth ministry. It stands for Grounded for Life.
Deuteronomy 6:7 says, “and these words that I command you today
shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children”
(ESV). This puts the responsibility of a child’s discipleship squarely on
the shoulders of their parents. G4L’s role is to come alongside
parents to aid in the discipleship process through group Bible studies,
team-building activities, service projects, missions and evangelism
training. These strong foundations “ground” a child for a life that
honors God in thought, word and deed.
WHAT WE DO:
o Youth Gathering
We meet once a month (usually the second Sunday) from after the service-2:30 PM.
The Sunday monthly meeting will take place at THE FISHER'S house. July 7, after the service till 2:30p. (Ron Foster wants to extend the time to account for extra time driving up to our house.)
Please note: we generally take August off from the monthly meeting. However, the youth will be joining the OC crowd for their youth camp at Thousand Pines August 9-11.
Parents, please pick up your teens at 2:30pm.
We eat lunch, do a team-building activity or two, then have a
discussion-based Bible study. This year (2018-2019), we will be going
through a curriculum called “Treasuring God’s Word.” We will also
discuss how to know and defend biblical doctrine, how to live a holy
life, and we’ll take a look at some methods for memorizing Scripture.
o Apologetics Training
We encourage our youth to attend the classes held before the
Sunday morning church service (8:45-9:30). Currently, Gordy Cucullu
is teaching a course in apologetics (defense of the Christian faith).
o Group Activities
Once a month, we have a get-together. We may go somewhere like
the beach, or we may just find a field and play flag football or Frisbee
golf. Whatever we do, there will always be food and fun!
- July Activity: Saturday, July 13, from 12:00p-4:00p. The O'Reggio family is hosting a pool party at their home: 1079 Coronet Ave., Pasadena 91107. Kids should bring a towel, an optional pool game or toy, and their favorite poolside snacks. Please wear modest swim attire. Please RSVP via email at Jnerate7@gmail.com with your child’s swim ability. For questions, you may call/text 626.755.5301.
